Colonel James D. Golden, USAF
Col Golden is a faculty member teaching Operational Planning at the Joint Advanced Warfighting School (JAWS) at the Joint Forces Staff College. Additionally he serves as a Seminax Faculty Lead for JAWS. He has an undergraduate degree in Management Information Systems from the University of South Carolina, a Masters in Aeronautical Studies from Emby Riddle Aeronautical University, and a Masters in Strategic Studies from the Army War College. He started his career as an UnderEraduate Pilot Training Instructor and has been an instructor and evaluator pilot in the C-17 as well.
Col Golden has commanded at multiple levels. He followed up a tour as the Director of Operations for a C- 17 Squadron at Hickam Air Force Base Hawaii with command of a VIP Airlift Squadron where he was in charge of DV airlift support for key Pacific leaders including the PACOM Commander, U.S. Forces Korea Commander, and Pacific Air Forces Commander. Prior to arriving at JFSC, Col Golden was the Vice Wing Commander of the 515th Air Mobility Operations Wing, supporting Air Mobility Command’s command and control, maintenance, and aerial port operations across the entire Pacific AOR.
Col Golden’s joint experience includes a tour at United States European Command where he served as an Air Operations Officer on the J3 staff working contingency and deliberate planning execution in support of CDRUSEUCOM’s strategic priorities. He also served as the command evaluator pilot for the C- 17 on the Air Mobility Command staff, playing a key role in the maturation and combat capability of the nation’s premier airlift platform. Finally, his military’ education has included in-residence attendance of Squadron Officer’s School and Air Command and Staff CollegCollege at Maxwell Air Force Base Alabama and the Army War College in Carlisle Pennsylvania.
