  • Joint Transition Course (JTC)
  • International Fellows (IF)
  • Joint Information Planners Course (JIPC Phase I)

 

Clearance Requirements for ALL Courses Listed Below

 

Students attending a classified course of instruction will be verified by the JFSC Security Office through the Defense Information System for Security (DISS); this verification process begins with the student's enrollment into the Joint Event Management System (JEMIS) prior to sending visit request/certification to JFSC Security.

All students must provide a Visit Authorization Request (VAR) passing security clearance information to the JFSC Security Office at least 30 days prior to the first day of class. This verification process will begin utilizing NDU-CONNECT vice JEMIS 1 June 2024.

  • Active Duty Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Military Students: Security clearances must be passed to the JFSC Security Office by the student's Security Manager/SSO;  Pass SECRET, TOP SECRET, and SCI Security clearances to the JFSC Security Management Office (SMO) code through DISS to DJJNDU7. The name of the student's college (JAWS, JCWS, JCWS-H, JIPC, JC4ISOC) and class number must be entered into the Visit Name section of the visit request for the clearance to be identified properly by JFSC Security Office.
  • DoD Military Reservists and National Guard Members: Security clearances must be passed to the JFSC Security Office by the student's Reserve/Guard command or DoD agency via a DISS visit request/certification. The Security Management Office (SMO) code to pass SECRET, TOP SECRET, and SCI clearances through DISS to JFSC is DJJNDU7. The name of the student's college (JAWS, JCWS, JCWS-H, JIPC, JC4ISOC) and class number must be entered into the Visit Name section of the visit request for the clearance to be identified properly by JFSC Security Office.
  • DoD Civilians: Security clearances must be passed to the JFSC Security Office by the student’s  command or DoD agency through DISS. The Security Management Office (SMO) code to pass SECRET, TOP SECRET, and SCI clearances through DISS to JFSC is DJJNDU7. The name of the student's college (JAWS, JCWS, JCWS-H, JIPC, JC4ISOC) and class number must be entered into the Visit Name section of the visit request for the clearance to be identified properly by JFSC Security Office.
  • Non-DoD Military and Civilian Students: A Visit Request must be submitted to JFSC's Security Office by the student's employing agency or organization on official letterhead via DoD SAFE or FAX to (757) 443-6035/46. TS and SCI Clearances can be submitted separately via Record Message Traffic to PLA: SSO JFSCOL. Students who do not hold a security clearance will not be allowed to enroll in classified courses of instruction. 
  • Private Industry Civilians: Private industry students who hold a security clearance issued by the US Government must submit a Visit Request to JFSC's Security Office through DISS to JFSC SMO Code: DJJNDU7, or on their company's official letterhead via FAX to (757) 443-6035/46. TS and SCI Clearances must be submitted separately via FAX to (757) 443-6035/46. Private industry students who do not hold a security clearance will not be allowed to enroll in classified courses of instructions. 

 

Course-specific Clearance Requirements

 

Joint Advanced Warfighting School (JAWS)

Students attending JAWS require a SCI clearance with access to SI/TK/G/HCS-P. Students on PCS orders should coordinate a Transfer in Status (TIS) through DISS with their SSO 30-days prior to arrival. Students on TDY orders must have their Servicing SSO send a SCI visit certification to include recertify authority. Clearance information can be forwarded to JFSC SSO via DISS SMO Code DJJNDU7 or via Record Message Traffic to SSO JFSCOL. JFSC SSO on an as needed basis will provide SCI Read in/Out indoctrination to U.S. students who have a full and current adjudicated clearance within the last five (5) years or enrollment in Continuous Evaluation (CE) program with SCI eligibility reported in DISS, but do not have a servicing SSO. Students who do not have the required Background investigation should submit their investigation paperwork immediately upon verification of acceptance to the school. International Fellows (Students) shall have their security office send an SCI visit certification to include re-certify authority through message traffic to PLA: SSO JFSCOL.

Joint & Combined Warfighting School (JCWS)

U.S. Students attending JCWS require a SECRET clearance at a minimum based on a personal security investigation within the last 5 years or enrollment in Continuous Evaluation (CE) program.  Clearance information can be forwarded to JFSC Security Office via DISS SMO Code DJJNDU7 or Record Message Traffic PLA to SSO JFSCOL

All security clearance information must be passed to the JFSC Security Office at least 30 days prior to the first day of class.   The Visit Authorization Request should cover from start date of class to graduation date.

JIS courses are taught at the SCI Level and require a SCI clearance with access to SI/TK/G/HCS-P. JFSC SSO on an as needed basis will provide SCI Read in/Out indoctrination to students who have a full and current adjudicated clearance within the last five (5) years or enrollment in Continuous Evaluation (CE) program with SCI eligibility reported in DISS, but do not have a owning SSO. Clearance information can be forwarded to JFSC SSO via DISS SMO code DJJNDU7or via Record Message Traffic PLA to SSO JFSCOL.

Clearance information can be forwarded to JFSC SSO via DISS SMO code DJJNDU7 or via Record Message Traffic PLA to SSO JFSCOL.  JFSC SSO will provide SCI Read in/Out indoctrination to U.S. students who have a full and current adjudicated clearance within the last five (5) years or enrollment in Continuous Evaluation (CE) program with SCI eligibility and reported in DISS, but do not have an owning SSO.
