The Joint Information School trains joint warfighters and other national security professionals in the planning and execution of information in joint operations, focusing on the Information Joint Function, Operations in the Information Environment (OIE), Military Deception (MILDEC), and Operations Security (OPSEC), enabling an information advantage for the Joint Force to prevail in globally integrated operations.

The Joint Information Planners course is designed to train students to plan, integrate, and synchronize Operations in the Information Environment, Military Deception, and Operations Security (OPSEC) into joint operational-level plans and orders. The course focuses on Operations in the Information Environment - Orientation, Information Environment and Information Planning concepts, OPSEC Planning, MILDEC Planning, and Synchronization. The JMTC curriculum provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the types of MILDEC, the MILDEC Planning Process, and how to develop DoD Deception Activities (DDA) plans, series, and executions. JMTC establishes a common foundational training for planners assigned to joint, operational-level MILDEC billets. Course objectives are accomplished in a joint seminar environment through multi-media presentations, instructor-led lectures, guest lectures, case studies, and practical exercises.
