Uniform Policy (All Courses)

Dress Code

JFSC prides itself on being a professional educational and military institution. The College dress code seeks to protect this professional image.

Uniform Requirements

All students are required to bring the primary duty uniform and graduation uniform. Additionally, JAWS students have some additional requirements and are expected to have the full complement of uniforms required by their Service (click for more info). The Commandant may modify the normal dress standards when it makes sense to do so for team building, employee morale, or camaraderie reasons. The School Directors may designate wearing of any uniform that faculty, staff, and students are required to have for specific events.

Shirts should be pressed, short or long-sleeved, with no fraying at the collar or cuffs. Spread collar or button-down Oxford is suggested. Boots or dress shoes should be of a good quality with low heel. Facial hair should be well groomed. Accessories may include a ring, watch, tie pin and/or cuff links.

  2. The female standards consist of a conservative business suit (pants or skirt), slacks with blazer, or a conservative dress. Shirts, blouses, or sweaters may be worn. Boots or dress shoes should be of good quality with low to moderate heel. Wear accessories moderately. Women shall avoid low necklines and short hemlines.

  3. Civilian personnel performing technical functions such as installing cable, major office cleaning, or furniture moves or installation, should wear appropriate clothing as approved by their Director/Dean as making good sense due to functionality and safety. The appropriate clothing shall always be in good repair.

  4. Contractor personnel shall wear clothing as approved by their parent organization. Generally, it will be in good taste and in keeping with JFSC policies depending on the duties.

  5. On Fridays, civilian casual is authorized. Men may wear trousers and a long or short-sleeve dress shirt with collar, without tie, or a polo shirt. Shoes may be casual but may not be athletic styles or sandals. Women may wear slacks, skirt, or dress, and sandals with or without hose.
