Dr. Robert Antis
Dean of Faculty and Academic Programs

Dr. Antis currently serves as the Dean of Faculty and Academic Programs at the Joint Forces Staff College. He has a B.A. in Political Science from Michigan State University, an M.A. in West European Studies from Indiana University, and a Ph.D. in International Studies from Old Dominion University. His graduate education has focused on matters of European security and European political integration as well as transatlantic relations.

Dr. Antis served as an Army Field Artillery Officer and European Foreign Area Officer. His postings included operational and staff assignments in Bamberg, Kitzingen, Schweinfurt, and Frankfurt, Germany as well as Seoul, Uijongbou, and Tongduchon, Republic of Korea. Dr. Antis is the Academic co-lead for the U.S./ NATO Defense Education Enhancement Program (DEEP) in the Republic of Georgia, helping to modernize the country's professional military education system.

He has written and presented on topics such as critical thinking, student assessment and learning communities, faculty assessment, and incorporating and using technology in traditional classrooms. He has taught joint planning at numerous Combatant Commands, along with many of their subordinate and supporting organizations. Dr. Antis has also presented seminars on strategy and planning in support of defense transformation in Slovenia, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Ukraine.
