LTC LaShell Y. Davis
Military Faculty, Joint and Combined Warfighting School
Lieutenant Colonel LaShell Y. Davis assumed duties as Military Faculty for Joint Forces Staff College, Joint & Combined Warfighting School, Norfolk, VA on July 15, 2023. Her previous assignment was Professor of Military Science for City University of New York Senior Reserve Officer Training Corp Program. Prior to that assignment, she served as Secretary to the Joint Staff/Executive Officer for the Commanding General, Equal Opportunity Leader, and People First Coordinator, Joint Task Force-Civil Support, NORTHCOM, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA.
LTC Davis was born in New Haven, CT. She enlisted in the United States Army in September 1991 as a Signal Support Specialist. Her eleven years enlisted career includes assignments with 25 Infantry Division, 1st Infantry Division and the Army National Guard.
LTC Davis holds an Associate in Liberal Arts from Leeward Community College, Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Pacific Lutheran University, Master of Arts in Social Work from Fayetteville State University and Master of Arts in Military Science from Command and General Staff College. LTC Davis is currently pursuing her Doctor of Education (EDD) in Christian Leadership: Ministry Leadership at Liberty University, with an anticipated graduation date of Fall 2022. She is a Level I Master Resiliency Trainer, Equal Opportunity Leader, and graduate of Joint Professional Military Education II, Joint and Combined Warfighting School, Norfolk, VA.
LTC Davis was commissioned thru the Army National Guard’s Officer Candidate School as a Transportation Corps Officer in June 2002. She served and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as a Platoon Leader with 1452D Combat Heavy Equipment Transporter Company from 2003-2004. She also served as a Detachment Commander with the 1452D Combat HET Company. Her subsequent assignments with the National Guard include Reserve Transition Officer at Fort Bragg, NC; Assistant S-3/Company Commander with 60th Troop Command, NCARNG. In July 2009, LTC Davis transitioned from the National Guard to the United States Army Active Duty. Her active duty assignments include: Brigade Maintenance Officer with 1HBCT, 2ID, Camp Casey Korea; Brigade S4 with 101st Sustainment Brigade, FTCKY. She also served and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as Company Commander of 227th Quartermaster Company, FTCKY from 2011-2012. After completing command, she was assigned to BDE S3 plans and deployed in support of Operation Enduring freedom from 2013-2014. LTC Davis attended resident ILE at Fort Leavenworth, KS, with a follow-on assignment as BDE S3 and XO for 404th Army Field Support BDE, JBLM, WA. She also served as the Support Operations Officer and XO for 1-357th BSB, 189th CATB, JBLM, WA.
LTC Davis’ awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (5), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (5), Army Achievement Medal (7), Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Overseas Ribbon (2D award), Iraqi Campaign Medal, and Joint Meritorious Unit Award. LTC Davis received the Order of Saint Christopher from the United States Army’s Transportation Corps. She also earned the Combat Action Badge and Basic Army Instructor Badge.
LTC Davis is married to First Sergeant (Retired) Derrick Davis of Albemarle, NC. Derrick retired while assigned to 563rd ASB, 159 Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division. They have been married for 29 years and have four children: MAJ Timothy Peters (US Army), Tiffany Hayes, Derrick Davis JR., and Asia Davis and five grandchildren; Key~Asia, Kamryn, Kaliyah, Giovanni, and Jelani.
