Dr. Jon Mikolashek

Jon B. Mikolashek, PhD.

Before arriving at the Joint Forces Staff College in August 2020, Dr. Mikolashek served as Professor of Military History at the United States Army Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and its satellite campus at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

Prior to that position, he was a Historian for the United States Army Center of Military History at Fort McNair, Washington, D.C ., working in the Contemporary Studies Branch. Dr. Mikolashek has taught college courses at James Madison University, Tallahassee Community College, Florida State University, and American Military  University. He holds an undergraduate degree in History from Longwood College, and a graduate degree in the same from James Madison University. Dr. Mikolashek earned his Ph.D. in United States History, Islamic World, and Military History from Florida State University.

He has published numerous articles, reviews, and other scholarly works, and is the author of Blood, Guts, and Grease: George S. Patton in World War I (University of Kentucky Press, 2019). His other books include General Mark Clark: Commander of United States Fifth Army and Liberator of Rome (Casemate Publishing, 2013; Second Edition, 2021), and Operation ENDURING FREEDOM: 2002-2005 (United States Printing, 2013), as co-author.
