Dr. David RodearmelDr. David Rodearmel
Assistant Professor

David Rodearmel (M.A., Dr. Jur., LL.M.) is an Assistant Professor teaching strategy, theory, history, and the INDOPACOM/China research seminar, at the Joint Advanced Warfighting School. He joined National Defense University in 2015 following 37 years’ service as a State Department Foreign Service Officer (Political Officer) and Army Military Intelligence and JAG Officer (LTC, Ret.). He has taught courses in Political Science, Constitutional Law, and International Relations at the U.S. Air Force Academy, and Law for the Defense Institute of International Legal Studies and the University of Maryland. Prof. Rodearmel’s foreign service assignments include Armenia, Bosnia, Canada, Ethiopia, Germany (West Berlin and Stuttgart/AFRICOM), Israel, and Ukraine. Domestic assignments include the Pentagon (Joint Staff J5), CIA, and the State Department (European, Political-Military, and Democracy/Human Rights Bureaus). He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and the Naval War College. Prof. Rodearmel holds a B.A. in History and Political Science, a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Washington, and a Master of Laws in Military and International Law from the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School. He is currently completing Ph.D. coursework in international studies.
